Welcome to Direct Mediation Services
Direct Mediation Services.
Welcome to Direct Mediation Services. Managing partner, Stuart Hanson, has opened a new family mediation firm and at the same a YouTube channel focusing on family mediation. The aim of the channel is to give people, who are facing family issues, an insight into what goes on in the mediation room and how it could potentially help them. Stuart Hanson said, “Separation is never easy and communications can become challenging. Many people try communicating through a lawyer, which can sometimes make the situation worse and can come with a very expensive price tag. Hopefully these videos will allow people to see that mediation is a very practical approach to dealing with family issues. Discussions might be about child arrangements, or how to split finances after a divorce.”
Mediation moves online
Direct Mediation Services is very keen on embracing new technologies and has already conducted Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) by Skype, WhatsApp and FaceTime. Stuart Hanson said, “We understand that people have less and less time and therefore this can be the most effective way of carrying out a privately funded MIAM quickly. Also this approach may be beneficial for people living at a distance from one another, or in some circumstances where one person has moved or is working abroad.” Stuart added, “In a world where the majority of communications are done online or using a mobile phone it seems obvious that we would want to bring this technology into the mediation room.” Direct Mediation Services hopes that their YouTube channel will encourage people to think about mediation as an alternative route to court.
